WG C5-12 Generator Market Power Mitigation Measures in Electricity Markets

In many jurisdictions electricity markets are becoming increasingly aggregated both horizontally and vertically and unbundled from transmission. This development raises the concern of Regulators that generators may use potential market power to raise market prices above the efficient levels. . There are also other sources of market power such as transmission constraints and the study will consider measures which seek to address market power from any cause.

This working group will provide insight into the measures that have been put in place or are proposed to mitigate the use of market power in electricity markets.
